Grand Designs Wirral build in 2016
We were proud to have our sedum roof modules specified for the Grand Designs Wirral build in 2016, where a modest 1960s bungalow in Merseyside was transformed into a striking piece of contemporary architecture. Designed as a bold, flat-roofed “wooden box”, the project demanded a roofing solution that complemented the clean lines of the build while delivering long-term performance, sustainability, and minimal maintenance.
See how the roof has fared 9 years later.
In 2025, Kevin McCloud returned to the Wirral to revisit Stuart and Rosie’s Grand Designs home, nine years after its original 2016 broadcast. The Revisited episode shows how the sedum roof has performed exceptionally well over time with minimal maintenance, while also revisiting footage of the original installation that highlights the simplicity of the modular system and the quality of the sedum that impressed Kevin from the outset.
